The monastery site of Ihlow is located in the middle of a forest on the edge of Ihlowerfehn and Ludwigsdorf (about eight kilometers south of Aurich). It can be reached via the A28 and A31 motorways. From the exit "Riepe" of the Autobahn 31 or the junction Holtrop-Ostersander on the Bundesstraße 72 you will be directed via tourist signposts to the forest parking lot at the Ihlow forest. From here it is still almost 900 meters walk to the "Silent Rooms Ihlow".
From the A28 via the Filsum exit. Via Hesel (B72), Ostersander, Westersander, Ludwigsdorf motorists come to Ihlow.
From the A31 via the Riepe exit. Via Oldersum and Simonswolde you reach the monastery site.
Alternative: Exit Neermoor. Via Landstraße 14 to Timmel. Then continue via Westgroßefehn, Ostersander, Westersander, Ludwigsdorf to Ihlow.
Traffic control at the monastery
The Ihlow forest is a nature reserve. Cars and buses can be parked in the parking lot at the edge of the forest (Kirchdorfer Straße (Kreisstraße L111), corner Münkeweg). From there, the path to the monastery site is just under 900 meters.
